FAQ

We are both really awkward in front of the camera, is that something you can work with?
Absolutely! We tend to capture our couples in a way that works with their natural way of interacting. If you’re a bit shy, we will find a way to capture you that allows you to feel comfortable. If you’re more outgoing we meet you where you’re at and offer plenty of advice for leaning into that. If this is something you are feeling quite nervous about we always suggest having an engagement session so that you know what to expect from us, we understand how you and your partner interact and you can see how the photos come out before the big day. We find this almost always eases some of that anxiety you might be feeling on the day about having a few cameras around.

How would you describe your photography/videography style?
We would describe our style as real, authentic and honest. You can expect from us photo and video content that feels like you (just maybe a little more made-up and dressed up than usual). We want the final product we create to feel just how you remember the day. Our goal is to help create an atmosphere on your day that allows everyone to feel comfortable, we will meet you where you’re at, whether that’s so bloody stoked to do this thing, or a little nervous about all those people looking at you. We’re going to prioritise the experience over the photos and video we capture. And from that we end up with great photos and video content anyway because everyone is just having a good time.

How much experience do you have?
Ebony photographed her first wedding in 2011 when she was only 16 years old. Ben just shortly after in 2013. Ben & Ebony have been shooting weddings full time together since 2015. We shoot around 30 weddings per year. This is a number we have chosen to allow us time to invest in each of our couples and not feel like a wedding pumping machine.

Can you help us with timings on the day?
Absolutely, if you are keen to book we can meet up in person or over video chat and that’s where we usually try to get a good idea of your plans for your day and then we can work together to make everything flow seamlessly and with a well thought out run sheet.

How much time do we need for photos?
That is completely up to you and your day! We can do it in 20 mins if we need to. Or we can do it over 2 hours. So far, we have found 1hr to be our sweet spot (not including any travel time between locations if that’s required). This should give you 10 mins to unwind after the ceremony, family photos chaos etc. and have a drink with your wedding party before we get started, 20 mins with your whole wedding party and 30(ish)mins for just the two of you.

Do we need to think of locations for our photo session?
Nope, not unless you want to! If you have specific places you’d really love to head to just let us know, but otherwise we have a whole stash of places we know are great, that will work at the right time of day and time of year and are nearby to your venue. The week of your wedding we will often go scouting at the same time of day that your photo session will be to see where the light will be at the time and what locations will be best.

Can you edit in a particular style we like (more light and airy/warm/cool/film style/dark and moody etc)?
What you see is what you get, that’s the premise of our shooting, if it was an overcast day your photos will reflect that (not in a depressing ominous way but just accurate) and if it was a bright sunny day we will obviously be working with that. If you want us to make our photos look like someone else’s however, we won’t be able to do that. We want you to absolutely love the final product you receive from your wedding day, but we are always going to stay true to our style of shooting and if you don’t feel like you resonate with our editing style we can absolutely suggest others who might better suit what you are wanting.

Can we see a full gallery of a previous wedding you have done at our venue?
Absolutely, chat to us more about when and where your wedding is and we can see if we have shot there before or find something similar to that venue we can share with you. This can be helpful as well to see how your photos might turn out at that time of year. If you like our moodier photos but you’re getting married in peak summer you might not get those overcast days that can create a moodier scene. Likewise if you want beautiful sunset photos but it’s winter there is a chance you might not get much of a sunset.

Can I send you my Pinterest board/shot list of photos I’d like you to capture?
Simply, no. Less simply, if you have particular things you’d really love to have captured absolutely let us know. We won’t be copying anything exactly as seen from another creative in the industry as we feel that won’t be a genuine representation of your day and spending the whole photo session trying to recreate other people photos means we aren’t allowing any time to get amazing photos of you guys being you. But if you want to get some smoke bombs out or pop a bottle of champagne because you saw them in a photo, then yes absolutely we can do that!
