“Bad” weather doesn’t have to ruin your day!
Confession time: we secretly do a little happy dance when the weather gets a bit wild on a wedding day. Yep, we kind of love it when it rains.
But we get it - not everyone feels the same way. The thought of hair and makeup being ruined, wind throwing things off, or your ceremony not going exactly to plan can definitely feel stressful.
That’s why we want to break it all down for you - the good, the not-so-good, and how to prepare for anything Mother Nature throws your way. so you can still have the best day ever, no matter the forecast.

Let’s get one thing out of the way: your attitude is the only thing that decides how “good” your wedding day will be.
We’ve been part of plenty of weddings where big, unexpected things went wrong - and yet, time and time again, our couples showed us that nothing could get in the way of having the best day possible.
And honestly? Some of the most “imperfect” wedding days make for the most epic memories (and photos).

Overcast skies are basically nature’s softbox - the light is even, flattering, and colours pop beautifully. The only catch is that it gets darker earlier, so it’s worth chatting with your vendors about timing. We always keep wiggle room in your run sheet so we can sneak out for photos when the light is best.
And if it rains? That can create such a cosy, intimate vibe. Cooler weather usually means you’re more comfortable snuggling in close, and honestly, those moments often end up being favourites in your gallery.

Worried about your look? These days, a good makeup artist will set you up with products that last. We’ve seen brides tearing up the dance floor after hours of wind and rain, still looking flawless.
Hair is trickier (thanks, humidity), but you’ve got options - bring a few touch-up essentials, or chat with your stylist about coming back before the reception for a quick refresh. If it gets messy? Lean into it. You’re going to remember how you felt way more than how it looked.

Sometimes wet weather just calls for an extra layer—and it doesn’t have to be boring. A jacket, coat, or even a fun pop of colour in an umbrella can look amazing in photos. Speaking of umbrellas, we carry a stash of clear ones in the car, ready to go. They keep you dry and let all that beautiful light shine through.
One of the biggest game-changers? Making sure your guests are on the same page. If the forecast looks iffy, consider sending out a quick message or update the group chat with your plans. Whether you’re moving things inside or embracing the outdoors, let people know what to expect and how you’re looking after them (air-con, shade, water, umbrellas, heaters, etc.). That way, they come prepared - and way less likely to stress.
Because here’s the thing: if you’re relaxed, your friends and family will too. If you panic, they’ll feed off that energy.

We’re always watching the weather right alongside you, and we’ll have backup options in mind. Sometimes that’s ducking into a nearby café, hall, or bar for photos. Other times it’s just waiting for a break in the clouds. We’ll never add stress—we’re the calm cucumbers making sure things happen.
Unfortunately, we are yet to master the art of controlling the weather but we can help in minimising the way the weather controls how you feel about your day.
If there is something you are really concerned about just tell your vendors – I can guarantee you they will have seen it before, done it before, or have an answer to fix it. Let your vendors know your concerns so they can accommodate your them throughout the day and when it comes to editing.

Your dress might get a little dirty, your hair might not stay put—and that’s okay. Chances are, if you’ve booked us, you’re not chasing “perfect” anyway. You’re chasing real. And real always wins.

It comes down to this:
Have a plan (and a backup).
Communicate with your vendors and venue.
Keep your guests in the loop.
Let go of the “what ifs.”
Choose your attitude.
And most importantly - just go with it.
Because in ten years, you won’t be remembering a little frizz or a damp dress. You’ll remember the joy, the laughter, the hugs, and the fact that you got married surrounded by your favourite people.
That’s what lasts. That’s what matters.

At the end of the day, the weather is just one tiny piece of your wedding - it doesn’t define it. What really matters is how you feel, the people around you, and the memories you make together.
Our job is to capture all of that, rain, hail or shine. Whether we’re running out between showers for golden light, snuggling you under an umbrella, or finding a cosy indoor corner, we’ll make sure your photos reflect the magic of your day - not the forecast.
So don’t waste energy worrying about what you can’t control. Choose to embrace it, laugh through it, and trust that no matter the weather, your wedding will be perfectly yours.
